Major Features
School of Mathematics, Tianjin University conducts two important programs: the first-level master degree program of Mathematics and the doctor degree program of Mathematics. The School of Mathematics has set five majors for postgraduate students: Fundamental Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Operational Research and Control Theory, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, and Computational Mathematics. We have an excellent teaching team that includes 22 professors and 49 associate professors. There are 1 Academician of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), 1 Academician from The Academy of Science for the Developing World (TWAS) among them. In addition, 1 person has been chosen to The Special Support Program of National High-level Talents. We have 4 award-winners of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 award-winner of The National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars, and also have 3 Distinguished Professors of Chang Jiang Scholars Program. At present, in order to create a good academic environment for the training of graduates, we has established long-term cooperative relationships with universities and experts at home and abroad. In recent years, thanks to the strong support from Tianjin University, each major of graduates has been developed rapidly with a broad prospect of discipline development.
Training Objectives
The training of graduates aims to cultivate high-level innovative talents both in teaching and scientific research fields. The graduates should be the inter-disciplinary talents that not only have broad theoretical knowledge, but also be able to solve practical problems by using their professionals. After their graduation, the students will be able to work independently and creatively in research activities. Besides, the good science research spirit and professional dedication will be cultivated in their learning progress. We pay great attention to the cultivation of graduate students’ morality and the improvement of their scientific qualities, so that we create a great academic atmosphere and development space for them.
