Educational Goals
Our aim is to cultivate students with comprehensive development in morality, intellect, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills. Equipped with a mindset for big data and innovation, graduates will master fundamental theories in mathematics, statistics, and computer science for big data applications. They will also acquire essential skills in data mining, statistical inference, machine learning, and big data management. With proficiency in professional capabilities and foreign languages, graduates will be well-equipped to undertake advanced scientific and technological roles in key areas such as algorithm development for data analysis and mining, and the construction of big data processing systems.

Data Science and Big Data Technology is an interdisciplinary field, including 3 core disciplines: statistics, mathematics, computer science, and 4 applied disciplines: biology, medicine, sociology, and management. Within the realms of theoretical underpinnings of data science, big data analysis and management, as well as artificial intelligence, students will receive systematic cultivation and training. It emphasizes the ability to analyze and solve problems using big data as a core component, as well as the capacity to integrate and innovate domain knowledge with computational and big data technologies. Graduates will emerge as multifaceted professionals with a solid grounding in theory and robust skills in big data computation.
